Funding for ECE DL Students and Graduates

The provincial government provides a variety of funding supports for Early Childhood Education students and graduates, including the following:

Early Childhood Education Grants

No application is required. The Student Financial Services Division of the Department of Advanced Education and Skills will notify you if you meet the eligibility requirements. If you qualify, the outstanding balance of the provincial loan borrowed while you were studying Early Childhood Education will be forgiven by converting into a non-repayable grant upon confirmation that you have met all requirements. Early Childhood Education (ECE) Graduate Bursary Program

The intent of the ECE Graduate Bursary Program is to provide assistance to candidates who have obtained a diploma in Early Childhood Education through a recognized post-secondary institution in Newfoundland and Labrador. Bursaries are available to graduates who meet the criteria set by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD). In return, bursary recipients must commit to work in a regulated child care service in this province for three years after graduation. Further details are available HERE

Early Childhood Education (ECE) On-Campus Field Placement Bursary

The intent of the ECE On-Campus Field Placement Bursary is to help reduce financial barriers by providing financial assistance to candidates who have successfully completed a required on-campus field placement at a College of the North Atlantic campus as a part of the ECE distance education program. The bursary is available to those who meet the criteria set by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD). Further details are available HERE

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Trainee Bursary Program

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is partnering with the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL) to provide the ECE Trainee Bursary to those who qualify. Further details are available HERE

Early Learning and Child Care Supplement

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development provides an Early Learning and Child Care Supplement of up to $10,000 per year to individuals trained in early childhood education working in regulated child care in the province.
