College of the North Atlantic is offering registration for learners in the Early Childhood Education Distance program for the Fall 2010 semester. Course dates are from Sept 7 – Dec.17, 2010. 1. REGISTRATION

Registration includes submission of the Registration form and payment of fees ($160 per course). The form and fees may be mailed to:

or hand delivered to the Admissions Office at the campus nearest you (please see http://www.cna.nl.ca/campuses/ for the list of CNA campuses).

Payment may be made by cash, cheque, money order, Visa or Mastercard. If you wish to pay by credit card and are not able to access a campus, please contact Sherry Mouland or Hannah Browne for payment of fees at 709-758-7265.

Deadlines

  • Completed Registration Form and Payment: August 13, 2010

    • If you cannot make this deadline, please contact Theresa, as extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration.
  • Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Applications: August 13, 2010

    • Applications and payment must be received by Prince Philip Drive campus no later than this date. This is a FIRM DEADLINE. PLAR applications received after this date will not be accepted.

    • A completed Registration form and payment must accompany any PLAR application, as only registered learners may PLAR an offered course.

2. TAKING ONLINE COURSES

There is a great deal of useful information for learners at: http://dls.cna.nl.ca/learner/welcome.asp

For example:

  • click on the Current Learners link on the left side of this page to find information on textbooks, exam schedules, accessing courses, adding and dropping courses, grades and transcripts, and so on.

  • the Support Services link takes you to the Help Desk, Bookstore, Exam Coordinators, and so on.

 

Accessing your course once registered:

  • Course access will be available September 2, with courses beginning September 7. For instructions on how to login, go to http://dls.cna.nl.ca/learner/accessing_course.asp

  • It is your responsibility to login at the beginning of the semester. You will not receive any additional notice of course start.


3. CONFIRMATION OF LEARNER STATUS

All learners must submit a Confirmation of Learner Status for Course Registration form each semester. Learners working in regulated child care centres complete Section A, all other learners complete Section B1 or B2.

4. EMAIL

All registered learners have a CNA email account. Correspondence with learners will only be through CNA email accounts, not through other personal email addresses. Please check your CNA email account regularly throughout the semester.


5. DROPPING COURSE(S)

If you drop a course after registration, it is essential that the appropriate process is followed; otherwise you will be charged for course costs and will receive a grade of NP (equivalent to 0). This may be done online at: http://dls.cna.nl.ca/learner/add_drop.asp

APPLYING TO THE PROGRAM:

Individuals must apply and be accepted to the ECE Distance program prior to registering for ECE Distance courses.  Acceptance may take a few weeks, as there are several documents that must be reviewed.
